Lawrences Auctioneers recently hosted a truly memorable wine-themed auction that exceeded all expectations. Held as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local charities, the sale achieved a 100% sell-through rate and raised an incredible £16,000, far surpassing its pre-sale estimate of £5,100.
The success of the event highlighted not only the appeal of the thoughtfully assembled collection but also the extraordinary generosity of its donor, whose kindness will make a lasting impact on the lives of many in the local community.
The collection was donated by an individual who prefers to remain anonymous, he entrusted Lawrences Auctioneers with the task of maximising the value of his cellar while contributing to a cause close to his heart. Over the years, this passionate wine enthusiast carefully built up an impressive cellar, curating a selection of bottles with dedication and care. Following a move from his long-time home in the Vale of Pewsey, where he no longer had space for his wine cellar, the donor made the generous decision to contribute the collection to support Julia’s House.
The funds raised through this remarkable auction will directly fund two weeks of hospice sessions at Julia’s House. Known for their deeply personal approach to care, Julia’s House provides practical, emotional, and expert clinical support for families with seriously ill children. Their dedicated team works not only within their hospice facilities but also in family homes and throughout the community, ensuring support is accessible wherever it’s needed most.
Karen Parker, from Julia’s House, shared her heartfelt thanks:
“We rely almost entirely on donations to fund our lifeline of care for families with seriously ill children. Support from local people and businesses is vital, and we were delighted when Lawrences, who have supported Julia's House for over two years through their services and fundraising, offered their expertise to help realise this kind gift. The incredible success of the “Time for Wine” sale has raised enough to fund two weeks of hospice sessions, where children can use the fantastic sensory room and other specialist equipment while their exhausted parents can enjoy a much-needed break. Our specialist nurses and care team provide regular respite for children in their own homes, in the community, or at our hospices, offering unwavering support for the entire family. This sale will make a tangible difference to the families we support, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
