Telcote Pup 'Bonzo' Mascot,
depicting the cartoon character by Augustine & Emile Lejeune, a hollow-cast bronze body with diamond-cut red glass eyes, 'Bonzo' stamped on the side, and 'Telcote Pup' impressed in his collar. This mascot of the mid-1920s was inspired by a French Bulldog, a comic book character created by the illustrator George E. Studdy, which he named 'Bonzo'. A French design, English manufacture. The larger of two sizes available in the 1920s, 5½-inches (14cm) long, its threaded mounting stem removed. Also, a later Lejeune standing Mr Toad of 'Wind in the Willows' fame, with Lejeune script on the base, together with a cast aluminium Rover head mascot mounted on a wooden base. (3)
