A SECOND WORLD WAR GROUP OF FOUR, BICORN HAT AND OTHER ITEMS.
A group of four comprising 1939/45 Star, Atlantic Star with France and Germany clasp, Africa Star and War Medal with Mentioned in Despatches Oak leaf. With ribbon bar and photograph of the recipient in uniform. A black silk Naval Officer's Bicorn Hat, in a Japanned tin carrying case named 'T.R.J. Tidnam' with faded 'On His Majesty's Service' paper labels. With a certificate notifying mention in despatches 23rd January 1941 for Thomas Richard J. Tidnam Warrant Engineer, R.N. Hat with internal dimensions of approximately 20cm x 15cm. Thomas Richard James Tidnam was the son of T.J.S. Tidnam who died on the 5th of September 1914 aboard H.M.S. Pathfinder. He served as a Warrant Engineer aboard H.M.S. Cumberland as she raced to join the action against the Admiral Graf Spee.
