SAMUEL SPODE (1798-1858) CANEZOU, A BAY RACE HORSE IN A STABLE Inscribed with horse's name, oil on canvas 67 x 89.5cm. * Canezou, foaled in 1845, by Melbourne out of Madame Pelerine, was owned by Lord Stanley. Frank Butters rode her to victory in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in 1848. An explanatory letter from The National Horseracing Museum (September 1987) acompanies the lot (2)
