A GRAND TOUR MARBLE COPY OF SCIPIO'S FAMILY TOMB,
19th century, the tomb dedicated to Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus, the detachable top inscribed 'Cornelius. Cn. F. Scipio', with scrolling leaf carved ends, the base with further inscription beneath a classical frieze and stepped base, height 11cm, width 19cm
*The tomb was the common tomb of the patrician Scipio family during the Roman Republic for interments between early 3rd century BC and the early 1st century AD. It now stands on the Via di Porta San Sebastiano in Rome.
