AGRICULTURAL MEDALS:- A late Victorian Scottish pendant medal, "Ploughing Match, Bathgate Agricultural Association, 1887, Presented by John Waddell Esqr of Inch, Won by Wm Greenhorn", by William Clark & Sons, Edinburgh and a fob medal "Thornhill Agricultural Association, Junior Class, 1st Prize to William Stirling, Boquhapple", unmarked; the larger one 1.6" (4.6 cms) diameter) 1.6 oz (2) *John Waddell (1828-1888) was a Scottish railway contractor and engineer, who served for many years as Provost of Bathgate, and was proprietor of the Easter Inch estate. He constructed the Scarborough to Whitby Railway, the Whitby and Loftus Line. He also built a bridge across the Thames at Putney (1882), and constructed the tunnel under the Mersey.
