A French 1896/8 officers cavalry sabre with an 84.5cm flat backed pointed blade with fuller, engraved to the back "Sabre d'Officer de Cavalerie M1896 3me Taille. Manuf D.Ames de Chat 1898. With a pierced basket hilt with foliate decoration and wooden grip. With a steel scabbard. Ornate pommel and guard with hardwood grip, complete with a steel scabbard with single ring suspension. 102cm.
