ZEPPELIN L.48 A small mounted cross section on a display board inscribed 'Metal from Zepplin L. 48 Brought down in Suffolk June 17th 1917'. 13 x 9cm. Zepplin L.48 was part of a bombing raid on London, with a crew of 19 she was brought down by aircraft from Orfordness crashing in a field at Theberton in Suffolk, three of the crew members survived the crash apparently making them the only people ever to survive from a burning airship in England. The crash site featured in a BBC Time Team programme from 2006 and the raid and crash are recorded in the book Zeppelin over Suffolk by Mark Mower, 2008.
