A POSSIBLE FIRST WORLD WAR FAMILY CASUALTY GROUP TO THE BERKSHIRES.
A group of three comprising 1914 'Mons' Star, War Medal and Victory Medal named to 9170 Private G. Hazell 2/R Berks.R and a pair named to 9334 Private H. Hazell 2/R Berks. George Hazell is recorded as serving with the 2nd Battalion and being killed in action on the 15th of April 1915, he is buried at Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery in Fleurbaix near the France Belgium border. Harry Hazell is recorded as being wounded on 8th September 1915 and entitled to wear a wound stripe, at this time he is recorded as serving with the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. With a collection of cap badges and other items including a a George V Half Crown the reverse cleaned and engraved with the Royal Berkshire Crest.
