A K O S BORDERERS BROADSWORD & SCABBARD.
A Victorian Kings Own Scottish Borderers Broadsword with E Thurkle & Sons, Denmark St, Soho, London on the forte. The 33" double-edged blade is decorated with thistles VR and other patterns. On the centre of the blade is Nisi Dominus Trustra. (without the Lord everything is in vain ) Nec Aspera Terrant (Hardships do not deter us) below a Castle and then a Horse respectively. Kings Own Scottish Borderers below a Victorian Crown. Battle Honours from Egypt, Minden, etc up to 1878-80. Full dress hilt with red inner lining and red pommel fringe, steel pierced outer guard in its steel scabbard.
