A BLUNDERBUSS WITH UNDERSLUNG BAYONET.
A brass barrelled Blunderbuss with Thomas on the lockplate, with brass furniture. A sideslung ramrod and triangular underslung 6.1/2" bayonet fitting. The 14" flared muzzle brass barrel, has Birmingham Proof Marks. Chequered grip and a trigger ahead of the trigger-guard, releases the bayonet. A General Gunsmith called Thomas is listed as working in Birmingham from 1776 until 1790. With th ebayonet sprung the overall length is 36.1/2".
