A BASS FLINTLOCK PISTOL. A C1775-1780 Bass of London marked fullstock Flintlock Pistol, with browntwist pattern octagonal 10" barrel. Steel furniture and underslung wooden ramrod with horn tip, partially chequered grip. 15.1/4" overall length with Bass on the steel lockplate and Bass London on the barrel top. There is a partial crack in the grip. John Bass 1770-1780 who then went into partnership with his Father in Law John Fox Twigg, a Gunmaker of great reputation until his death in 1790. He then reverted to making fine guns under his own name, once again. See Illustration
