This collection of works by Philip Jackson reflects the artist's love of the Somerset Levels and his instinctive feel for the beauty of landscape in Somerset and elsewhere. Jackson, from an RAF and farming background, began his career as a dealer and restorer in Old Master paintings. He took up painting in 1978 and started exhibiting his work in 1980, showing at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the first time in 1982. He is equally versatile in oil and pastel and his self-published book Waterways and Wetlands shows over 300 of his pictures. Having established his career at Somerton, the Cornish-born artist now lives and works in North Cornwall.
