RUINS AT ASNELLES

32.5 x 40cm.
* After service in the Army, and during a successful exhibition of Bogarde's work at The Batsford Gallery Mayfair in 1945, a Times critic noted that Bogarde `seems to think primarily in watercolour which he uses very effectively. He has the gift of suggesting the character of a scene and he brings the physical nature of the campaign vividly before the eye'. The critic likened his skill favourably to that of Muirhead Bone and Edward Ardizzone.
