Lot 1643
FRAMED SEVRES TOPOGRAPHICAL PLATE a circular porcelain plaque painted with a shepherd and sheep on a cliff top, overlooking a rocky coastal scene. Marked to the back, de Sevres (in red), No 18, Vue des isles de la Trippa, le Berger et la Mer. Mounted in a modern frame. Frame 30.5cms square *This plate appears to have been made in the style of the famous Fond Pourpre Fable plates 'Service de L'Archicancelier', a service made in early 19thc. A plate with the same title was sold in a group lot at Christies in 2010, lot 650, Auction 2350.
*We have carefully removed the back of the frame which reveals that the plate rim has been roughly cut away at some point. See images for this lot.
