A GEORGE III SILVER & GOLD MOUNTED REGIMENTAL SNUFF BOX
of rectangular form with rounded corners and a slightly domed base and cover, engraved with a trophy of arms and set with an oval, rose-gold plaque inscribed "The gift of 5th Battalion Compy, 1st Reg. Aberdeen Volunteers to Captain Thomas Burnett as a mark of their esteem", the base with a wriggle pattern with cross-hatching, gilt interior, by Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham 1804; 2.75" (7 cms) long; 2.9 oz
*N.B. This box has a hallmarking anomaly, it is struck with two duty marks (of different sizes) not be to confused with the double duty mark that was struck only in 1797.
