oval with a "stand-away" hinge and reeded borders, the slightly domed cover engraved with a crest and coat of arms*, within a rococo cartouche, the base with the script initials "TW" and date "1767" below a flowering plant, maker's mark struck twice, by Henry Beesley, London 1725-1730; 4" (10 cms) long; 5 oz
*The Arms are those of Wilkinson, probably for Wilkinson of Kirbrigg (Kirkbridge), Yorkshire.
