rectangular with reeded borders and moulded sides, the cover inlaid with the cut-out initials "C" and "R" below a Royal crown, the cover interior with tortoiseshell lining, unmarked c.1735; 2.8" (7.2 cms) long
*This box was probably made to commemorate the episode where King Charles II escaped capture following the Battle of Worcester in 1651, when he hid in an oak tree, now referred to as the Boscabel Oak.
