triangular with rounded corners and reeded borders, the cover shaped and engraved with a hatched circle and feathery sprays, resembling a tri-corn hat, inscribed "JOHN BEAZLEY NEWTON"*, gilt interior, unmarked c.1730; 3" (7.7 cms) long; 1.45 oz
*It is quite possible that this box belonged to John Beazley, innkeeper of the Globe Inn at Newton Abbot, Devon. Beazley was born c.1816.
