He visited Turkey and the Middle East, often deriving subject matter from elements found in other artists' works. An apparent companion piece, evidently by the same hand and depicting Jerusalem, is ascribed to Sergeevich Sergev and is in the Nassar D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, London
