FRAMED PORTRAIT OF CAPT W DICKINSON by CHARLES A COOK.
An oil on canvas of Captain William Dickinson, 1877-1964 formerly of Kingweston House, now owned by Millfield School. Somerset
Soldier and Architect, from a family that originally made their fortunes in Jamaica. He lost two brothers in the Gt War. Lt George B Dickinson (E Lancs KIA 3/5/1915) and T/Lt Col Hugh C Dickinson 1st Somerset L I att 2/3 kings African Rifles. (Died as a result of treatment as a POW in Africa 18/12/1918).
Serving as a Captain in the 19th Battn Hampshire, he served overseas from May 1916, also in WW11. Wearing Bwm & Victory also Defence Medal ribbons, facing right in the portrait. Medal address on his MIC given as Kingweston, Nr Taunton, Somerset.
The outer frame measurements are 21.1/2" x 25.1/2", in ornate gilt form.
