Maurice Woodman Emley was commissioned as a 2/Lt into the Newcastle Upon Tyne Volunteers (Telegraph Company) in 1907. (Northumbrian Division).
He served in France from the 17th January 1915 with the rank of Captain 2nd May 1913. (5th Signal coy RE) In 1918 he served with the Corps of Signals, with the rank of Major from the 8th October 1918. Brevet Lt Colonel and Colonel 3rd November 1925.
In 1921 he is serving as a Lt Colonel with the 3rd London Signals, later Anti Aircraft (Air Defence of London) 3rd November 1921.
