Lot 486
A LATE 18TH CENTURY NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD.
A sword with an 81cm pointed tapering fullered blade with sharpened edge, the blade with engraved decoration of early form GR cypher to either side and military trophies. The slender handle and guard with scroll work to the side ring. With leather scabbard with three mounts and twin ring suspension. 98cm overall length.
This sword is similar to the sword that was Nelson's favourite with the slight variation that this example has scroll work to the side ring rather than an oval.
