H.M.S. ORION: A PAINTED CAST NAME PLATE.
A cast metal name plate for H.M.S. Orion, with various layers of paint, the last a pale pink, 4cm high, 33.5cm wide. The Dreadnaught class battleship H.M.S. Orion was sold for scrap in 1922 having served during the First World War in a number of well recorded actions, not least the battle of Jutland where she was Commanded by Oliver Backhouse as the lead ship of the 2nd Division of the second Battle Squadron.
