A COLLECTION OF COMMISSIONS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR GENERAL PLAYFAIR.
To include a Commission to Elliot Minto Playfair, Gentleman, 1st Lieutenant in the East India Company Army from 11th May 1854 at Camp Lahore in Bengal, signed by William Maynard Gomm Commander in Chief in the East Indies. A similarly dated document appointing him First Lieutenant in the Corps of Artillery, Another similar document from 27th August 1858 appointing Playfair a 2nd Captain at Simla in Bengal, signed by Lord Clyde. A Commission from Queen Victoria for Playfair of the Madras Artillery as 2nd Captain of a Battery in the Royal Artillery from the 7th August 1858. With a selection of copied pages 'Concise Diary, First Division S. Africa Field Force under command of Lieut General Lord Methuen'. From 21st October 1899 'Embarked on S.S. Moor' and listing much action and movement from this date. All in a light brown leather wallet marked General Elliot M. Playfair.
