A LATE 17TH CENTURY CREWELWORK PANEL,
the linen ground designed with climbing branches of bold leaves worked with mainly blue, green & brown wools in a multitude of patterns and a variety of stitches and a companion panel woven with the initials 'M F' in red wool, each lined, approximately 84 inches (203 cms) by 45 inches (114 cms)
*Footnote: These panels were bought from Leonard Lassalle, antique dealer of Tunbridge Wells in 1971. They were later restored by Karen Finch OBE 1921-2018, the pioneer of textile conservation who in 1975 founded the Textile Conservation Centre (TCC) at Hampton Court Palace (since 2010 part of the University of Glasgow).
