Nightingale, Florence. The Every-Day of Life by J. R. Millar, various passages highlighted with blue pencil, original cloth, worn, cover partly detached, 8vo, London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1894
The half-title is inscribed, 'This book belonged to Florence Nightingale and the marks in it are hers. It was sent to me in the winter of 1912 by Mr Bonham Carter, Mary Juliana Pyne.' A further inscription reads, 'Given by me to Dorothy Cubison, May 11th Whit Sunday 1913, M.J. Pyne.' Loosely inserted is the pencil signature of Florence Nightingale removed from another work.
Mary Juliana Pyne (1841-1927) was a hospital Matron who corresponded with Florence Nightingale concerning career matters and with her support secured a key position at Westminster Hospital in 1880.
